Rulers of the dirt
Inspired by their cousin's Easter pictures, I went ahead and took Easter season pictures of the girls yesterday in our next door field! Let me know which are your favorites because I might print some of them.

Tonight, the coronavirus folk song genre was born
Today, we got to witness the birth of the coronavirus folk songs that will be remembered by history, a theme that is no doubt emerging in households all over the world. It all started when Nicole did her school assignment for music, which was to make a musical instrument. We managed to create a drum out of cardboard, a large tin can, and duct tape. Later in the day, Nicole set up all her dolls and stuffed animals on the couch, and Allison and the dolls got to listen to Nicole put on a concert with songs about...all sorts of subjects. Allison enjoyed the charade immensely, and clapped and cheered at the end of the songs, encouraging the dolls to do the same. Later tonight, Allison restarted the concert with her own songs, and Nicole joined in. By the end of the night, all the songs were about coronavirus.

Innocent
Allison requested during dinner tonight that we go outside, so I told the girls we could go for a little walk if they would finish their dinner quickly. We all had our shoes and coats on, and were about to go out the door, when I smelled something suspicious coming from Allie's pants.
"Did you fart?" I said.
"I didn't do nothing!" responded Allie. "I didn't poop, I didn't fart, I didn't pee."
Scene fades to a dark night outside a convenience store. In the dim moonlight, a black man is seen leaning against the hood of his car, parked next to a blue dumpster beside the building. A police officer emerges out of the shadows with his gun pointed at the black man. The black man's hands spring open high in the air, and, eyes wide, says, "I didn't do nothing! I didn't poop, I didn't fart, I didn't pee."

Today's events
More cheekiness from Allie today:
Today, Allison was being her usual rambunctious self, trying to push me around while I was on the couch, and crawling all over me and doing forward rolls all over me. She was grabbing my head by my hair trying to control me, so I told her she needed to stop. I told her to say she would stop pulling my hair, but she likes to mess up what she's supposed to repeat (out of an act of rebellion). When she does this, I have her repeat one word at a time.
Me: I
Allie: I
Me: will
Allie will
Me: not
Allie: not
Me: pull
Allie: pull
Me: your
Allie: your
Me: hair
Allie paused for a moment, looked up and to the side, and back at me, and said: underwear
That's when she went to timeout.
Later today, Allie was put in timeout because I told her to pick up the paper plate she had dropped on the ground, and instead, she played and stepped on it. I returned to her timeout lair a few minutes later, and a sheet was drawn over her head. I figured she must be sleeping, because she hadn't gotten a nap. I pull the sheet off her head and she says, "Boo!" I told her to stand up and asked her, "Do you know why you're in time out?" Sloppily standing up, like a drunk, and in her silliest nasally voice, with mannerisms reminiscent of Jim Carrey, she said, "Yeahp." "Why are you in timeout?" I said. With her silly nasally voice, and in true Jim Carrey fashion, she answered, "I did something baaaaaaad."

A few words
A few words about Allie. She is not tenderhearted and sensitive like Nicole. She doesn't have serious anxieties, and her feelings don't seem to get hurt. She doesn't really get sad, but she gets angry. She is curious, and she doesn't easily learn caution. The term, "headstrong," was created for people like her. If you let her, she will walk all over you. In fact, she literally pushes me around sometimes. It's times like those that I'm reminded that she needs a strong parent, so that's what I try to be.
Tonight, Allison was being disobedient, so I shut the door to their bedroom, amidst their loud protests. I came back a few minutes later and asked Allison if she was ready to stay in her room. Reclining in her bed, she looked at me and shook her head, and said, "Shut the door. Just shut the door." (Although it sounded like this, in toddler-speak: "Sutt wuh dough. Dust sutt wuh dough.")
