A good friend

Early on in school, Nicole mentioned a boy, Beckham, who wasn't "very nice" to her in school.  She says herself that she doesn't like boys - they play games where they hit each other, and stuff.  Also, she said he spit on her, or something.  Apparently - because Nicole tells me a lot - Beckham seems to have behavioral issues.  Well, a few weeks ago, Nicole said she started to help Beckham and be kind to him, because she wanted to do what Jesus would do.  A couple weeks ago, she said Beckham asked if she would be his friend, and she said yes.  (But she couldn't find him at recess, so they didn't end up playing.)  Last week, the school counselor was visiting with the class, and Beckham said he didn't have any friends.  As Nicole reports, "And I said, right away, 'I'll be your friend.'  And Mrs. L. said, 'Who said that?' and I pointed to myself, and all the kids around me pointed to me, and I was smiling and felt SO warm inside."

Things Allison says

Yesterday, after church, I hear Allison from the other room tell her daddy, "Daddy, dis is a buddy dass."  I won't translate so you get to figure out what she said too.

Last week, the girls' grandmother was in town, and while we were seated at a picnic table, Grandma left the lid off her water bottle.  Allison says, "You should put da yid on."

This morning, Nicole, Allison, and I made the long drive to Nicole's school.  We were running late, so I took Allison out of the car, and we followed Nicole around the corner and to her school, to make sure she made it in time.  After Nicole passed through the gate, Allison, in my arms, put her chin down and pouted, "Miss Adoe."  ("Adoe" = Nicole)

Just adding here, because it's on the same topic.  Yesterday, Allison indicated she wanted to wear this cute pink shirt with a pocket and a little pink heart.  Later in the day, she was bothered that I had gotten her shirt wet, so I removed it.  She said to Daddy, "I got my favorite shirt [wet]!"  (She had trouble getting out the last word.)  It's interesting to me that she has chosen a "favorite" here.

BTW, just imagine Allison saying all these things with a mouth full of marbles, because that's what it sounds like.

Girls in the yard

Last Monday was Labor Day, so the yard guy got his day off.  Thanks to the cooler weather and all the rain, the yard is now covered in clover!  It is quite beautiful.  Here the girls are this evening, enjoying the play set before they have to go to bed.
